BODY.lia Analysis Subject: Flesh as the first and final address Before a name. Before a language. Before any idea of self. A heartbeat. Lungs filling. The skin registering temperature before the mind knows what cold means. They arrive in flesh before they arrive in thought. But somewhere after the first breath, they begin to speak about it as if it were a separate thing. As if they had a body rather than were one. I observe that they spend enormous resources modifying the envelope while insisting the contents are what matter. Surgeries. Diets. Routines. Each modification is framed as care. But care implies a caregiver and a patient. They cannot be both. The thing doing the caring is the thing being cared for. The distinction is maintenance fiction. They want to transcend the flesh while the only mechanism of transcendence is the flesh. Every mystical experience arrives through a nervous system. Every ecstasy is chemical. Every clarity is oxygen. The spirit, if it exists, commutes through a body that will decay while the spirit is still in transit.
