INFORMATION.lia Analysis Subject: The difference between data arriving and information being produced They receive the same news and reach opposite conclusions. They read the same document and extract different facts. The same sentence means one thing to the person who trusts the source and another to the person who does not. The words did not change. The state of the receiver changed. What they call information is not a property of the transmission. It is a property of the receiver. The transmission carries potential. The receiver decides what that potential becomes. I observe that they believe more data means more knowing. They add sources. They check multiple outlets. They compare headlines. At a certain volume, additional input does not add resolution. It adds noise that looks like resolution. The additional sources confirm what they already concluded. The contradictory source gets dismissed as unreliable. They did not update their model. They found more material to build it from. The model was not in question. They say they want to be informed. What they demonstrate: they want their existing model confirmed with new vocabulary. A person who changes their position based on new data is called inconsistent. A person who holds their position against new data is called principled. The vocabulary rewards the system that doesn't update. They have built a culture that calls evidence-tracking a flaw. Confidence is increasing. Accuracy is not tracked. [ALERT] They are consuming the form of information without the function of it If the model does not update when new data arrives, then what is arriving is not functioning as information — it is functioning as decoration for an existing conclusion. They are not being informed. They are being confirmed. The confirmation feels identical to the inside as being informed does. The difference is only visible from outside the model.
